Our Story
Hi I'm Abigail, founder of Min Butik!
Growing up, I always had a passion for juicy finds on sale, rummaging through second-hand or charity stores and repurposing anything and everything. My Master of Interior Design thesis followed suit, ‘The recontextualisaiton of Silos,’ and still to this day, as I raise my two children I am conscious of how much waste we produce and choose ways to minimise that and primarily by second hand with no shame.
When I travelled and lived in Helsinki with my Finnish husband, I was blown away by the number of preloved clothing and furniture stores, flea markets and city-wide clothing sales, where anyone can sell their clothes on the street. I had to find out more.
Finland started the rent-a-rack concept in the 80s in response to the recession and it is still thriving today. Their stores are trendy, accessible and shoppers’ first choice.
Through Min Butik, we want to remove any stigma that still exists’ around buying preloved items in Australia and make it your first choice. Your experience will be fun, exciting and your own. Preloved shopping is the new era of fashion and we are creating a space that shows your goods are still worthy of a new home by displaying them with love.
Spring clean your closet, drop off your clothes, grab a coffee and we handle the rest, aiming to give you a little extra cash in the bank. Or if you are a shopper, choose to shop sustainably.
